Tom Meara

Tom is a battletested communications professional who specializes in developing and running strategic public affairs campaigns for a variety of clients across a wide array of industries at Kivvit, including labor, energy, environment and criminal justice. 

He develops innovative solutions for clients and provides strategic guidance, media relations, coalition management and paid media advice for legislative and communications initiatives. He also has successfully assisted various organizations — both corporate and not-for-profits — in building relationships and navigating complex media environments. 

Tom has recently been involved with several notable campaigns delivering the following services: 

Served as the press and communications lead for a statewide campaign against the constitutional convention; 

Led a robust earned media effort to pass comprehensive criminal justice legislation in New York; 

Developed content and the paid media strategy to pass Medical Aid in Dying legislation in New Jersey; and 

Provided strategic guidance and lead earned media and public affairs for a mass effort to bail women and children out of Rikers Island. 

 

Prior to joining Kivvit, Tom served as a Principal at M Public Affairs. While working at M Public Affairs, Tom helped lead a campaign that successfully advocated for middle class wages on behalf of construction unions. Since joining Kivvit, Tom has continued to further his communications and earned media expertise and foster his labor and coalition management prowess. 

Several campaigns Tom has spearheaded resulted in national awards, including: 

Sabre Awards for Best Public Affairs Campaign and Bulldog Award for Best Issue/Cause Advocacy Campaign for Mass Bail Out. 

Reed Awards for Best Use of Online Targeting for Statewide Campaign with Compassion and

Choices Medical Aid in Dying campaign in New Jersey. 

Bulldog Best Public Affairs Campaign for New Yorkers Against Corruption. 

 

Tom lives in Garden City South, New York with his wife and two children.
