Colleen Frerichs

Colleen specializes in media relations, strategic communications, and social content creation. She works in issue advocacy and message development with clients across sectors, including higher education, technology, and health care.

Colleen utilizes earned media to help Kivvit’s criminal justice work, and she managed communications around the launch of several media ventures in the criminal justice space, including three seasons of The Appeal’s Justice in America podcast and the Plain View Project. Just a month after its launch, Colleen helped get the project featured in over 50 news outlets, including The New York Times, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, CBS News, NPR, and Vice News. She also serves as the trainee coordinator for Kivvit’s office in Washington, D.C., overseeing interns and helping them integrate into the firm.

Prior to joining Kivvit, Colleen worked at Hamilton Place Strategies as a news management intern, monitoring coverage and analyzing impacts to help clients better understand their performance and direct resources more efficiently. Prior to that, Colleen spent time in Iowa working on the O’Malley for President campaign.

Colleen is from Timonium, Maryland, and she now lives in Washington, D.C.
