Grace Ros Turiano and John Heffernan Join the Kivvit Team in Miami
Grace Ros Turiano and John Heffernan have been hired as Principals to Kivvit’s growing Miami office, joining the team led by Director Kelly Penton Chacon. Kivvit’s Miami office opened for business in January 2015, and has been rapidly expanding its roster of highly experienced public affairs and corporate communications professionals. The two new Principals will focus on developing communications strategy, digital, media, and public affairs counsel for prestigious clients in the corporate, nonprofit, and public spheres.
“Kivvit established itself in Miami by specifically focusing on land use, reputation development and issue management communication services in this dynamic market,” said Kivvit Managing Partner Eric Sedler. “Grace and John bring personal roots and professional experience in the Greater Miami community, as well as communications know-how that will translate to positive results for our valued clients,” added Sedler.
Ros Turiano joins Kivvit with a dynamic background in corporate and nonprofit communications. She previously served as an account supervisor at Cone Communications in Boston, where she led the development and launch of corporate social responsibility programs and marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and nationally recognized mission-based organizations. She was responsible for helping forge mutually beneficial, cross sector partnerships between not-for-profit and for-profit entities that drove social impact and business return. Ros Turiano also worked as a producer for South Florida ABC affiliate WPLG, building bilingual, creative image campaigns and managing the station’s events and overall brand and reputation. She holds an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism and Sociology from the University of Miami and earned a Master of Science degree in public relations from Boston University.
Heffernan brings more than a decade of political and communications experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as Communications Manager at Miami International Airport, handling media relations and policy communications efforts for Florida’s largest single economic engine. He also travelled to Washington, D.C. regularly with the airport CEO to advance the airport’s federal legislative agenda. Prior to his time at MIA, he served as Press Secretary for Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, promoting the newly-elected Mayor’s initiatives and serving as his speechwriter. In 2010, he was Director of Advance for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio’s successful statewide campaign, building events that garnered earned media across Florida’s ten diverse media markets. Heffernan is a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned a degree in History.
