Wynwood Business Improvement District
Miami’s Wynwood district is internationally famed for its beautiful art galleries and industrial character. The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) was created in 2013 as a municipal body to oversee and implement enhancements to the quality of life and overall appearance of the neighborhood. The BID’s main objective has been to gain necessary approvals for the rezoning of Wynwood in order to accommodate residential development among other elements of a new master plan.
Kivvit was brought on to work with the BID to successfully achieve the approvals—enhancing Wynwood’s image as a prime destination for businesses, residents, and visitors alike by building support among property owners and elected leaders.
At the outset of our engagement, Kivvit developed messages tailored to each target audience and reflected in our collateral materials, direct communications with stakeholders, media outreach, and talking points for the BID board. We also managed all the public meetings onsite—preparing necessary materials and conducting media and stakeholder outreach. In advance of these meetings, we lined up BID board members to meet one-on-one with key reporters as well as editorial board meetings about the the rezoning plan.
Kivvit continues to play an integral role in organizing communication and media relations strategies for the BID as it goes through a final round of review by the Miami City Commission.
